It’s got one hell of a cast.

If you’re looking to stay in this Friday evening then you’re in luck. There’s a really excellent choice of movies on TV tonight, ranging from dark crime dramas to lighthearted rom-coms and everything in between.

Without further ado, let’s get in to the best choices on the TV this Friday night.

Transformers – FilmFour – 6.10pm

Big robots, big explosions.

Ronin – FilmFour – 9pm

1998 espionage thriller starring Robert De Niro as an agent who gets involved in a battle between the Russian Mafia and the IRA to acquire a mysterious suitcase.

It Follows – HorrorXtra – 9pm

One of the best modern horrors with an incredibly unique plot and some big scares.

Crocodile Dundee 2 – E4 – 9pm

Disappointing sequel to the original flick, with the Aussie Bushman making his way to Los Angeles.

Fast & Furious 8 – ITV2 – 9pm

Also known as the Fate of the Furious, expect fast cars, explosive set-pieces and family barbeques.

Zombieland – Great! Movies – 9pm

2009 road-trip zombie comedy starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone.

The Professionals – TG4 – 9.15pm

Burt Lancaster stars in this 1966 Western about four adventurers, hired by a Texas rancher, to rescue his kidnapped wife from a notorious Mexican bandit.

Cold Pursuit – RTÉ1 – 9.35pm

Liam Neeson stars in this icey thriller about a snowplow driver who goes after a drug cartel following the murder of his son. Think Taken, but… colder.

On the Basis of Sex – RTÉ2 – 10pm

2018 film starring Felicity Jones and based on the early life of American judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Goodfellas – BBC3 – 10pm

A Scorsese masterclass and simply one of the best films of all time.

Anna – Virgin Media One – 10.05pm

A not very good flick about one of the world’s most dangerous assassins, starring Sasha Luss as the eponymous killer, alongside Luke Evans, Cillian Murphy, Helen Mirren, and Alexander Petrov.

Black Hawk Down – Great! Movies – 10.50pm

War flick about a downed helicopter in enemy territory during the U.S. military’s 1993 raid in Mogadishu. Huge ensemble cast of familiar faces including the likes of Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, Eric Bana, Tom Sizemore, William Fichtner, Jason Isaacs, Sam Shepard, Ewen Bremner and Tom Hardy.

Snatch – FilmFour- 11.25pm

Our pick of the movies on TV tonight is this classic Guy Ritchie crime comedy set in the London criminal underworld.

The film focuses on two intertwining plots – one dealing with the search for a stolen diamond, the other involving a small-time boxing promoter who finds himself under the thumb of a ruthless gangster.

Starring an ensemble cast, including Jason Statham, Brad Pitt, Stephen Graham, Benicio del Toro and Dennis Farina, Snatch has gone on to gain a cult following and is loved for it’s snappy script and colourful characters.

French Kiss – RTÉ1 – 11.45pm

Rom-com starring Meg Ryan as a woman who, on the way to confront her fiancé in Paris, gets tangled up with a plotting Frenchman on an airplane.

Charlie’s Angels (2019) – Channel 4 – 12.10am

Pretty average addition to the pretty average film series, starring a new set of Angels – Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.

Eastern Promises – BBC1 – 12.35am

An excellent David Cronenberg crime film about a midwife who comes across disturbing evidence of crimes linked to the ruthless mobster Nikolai and his gang, setting in motion a dangerous set of events.

Blindspotting – FilmFour – 1.30am

Critically acclaimed 2018 comedy-drama starring Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal, circling on a man with three days left on his parole who witnesses a police shooting that threatens to ruin a lifelong friendship.
