It was written and directed by the creator of Peaky Blinders.
Staying in this Tuesday evening? Not to worry as there are plenty of movies airing on TV tonight, starting with:
Suicide Squad – RTÉ2 – 9pm
While panned by critics, this DC superhero was a box office hit and won an Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Octopussy – ITV4 – 9pm
The second last Roger Moore Bond flick.
Christine – Legend – 9pm
This very good ’80s horror sees legendary horror filmmaker John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) adapt a novel by legendary horror writer Stephen King (Carrie, The Shining).
Zoolander 2 – Comedy Central – 9pm
The commercial and critical flop sequel to Ben Stiller’s cult classic comedy Zoolander.
Infinite – Film4 – 9pm
This 2021 sci-fi action flick starring Mark Wahlberg has a low 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, which means you may want to avoid it.
Trespass – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm
Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman star in this thriller as a couple whose home is invaded by violent thieves.
It Follows – Horror Xtra – 10.50pm
This modern horror classic centres on a young woman (Maika Monroe) that begins to be followed by an unknown supernatural force after a sexual encounter.
Absolute Power – Turner Classic Movies – 10.55pm
Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this political action thriller about a master jewel thief who witnesses the killing of a woman by Secret Service agents.
Inheritance – AMC – 11pm
In this thriller with a lowly 23% Rotten Tomatoes score, a wealthy patriarch suddenly passes away, leaving his daughter (Lily Collins) with a shocking secret inheritance that threatens to destroy the family.
Locke – Film4 – 11.05pm
Last but not least is our pick for tonight, this 2013 movie starring Tom Hardy. He plays Ivan Locke, a family man and successful construction manager whose life begins to fall apart over the course of a car journey.
From writer-director Steven Knight (the creator of Peaky Blinders), Locke is noteworthy for taking place almost entirely in a car and for featuring only one onscreen actor in Hardy. Nevertheless, the thriller drama is as gripping as an action-packed blockbuster thanks to its tour-de-force central performance and the level of depth of its lead character.
