Fans of true crime will enjoy this.

Despite being one of the most famous faces in the world, it’s very likely that some viewers will be unfamiliar with the failed assassination attempt on the life of Bob Marley.

As stated previously, Netflix are about to release their new music documentary series ReMastered and their first feature is shaping up to be a cracker.

On 3 December 1976, two days before a free concert that was organised by the Jamaican Prime Minister in an attempt to ease tension between two warring political groups, Marley, his wife, and manager Don Taylor were wounded in an assault by unknown gunmen inside the singer’s home.

Taylor and Marley’s wife sustained serious injuries, but thankfully, they made full recoveries.

Bob Marley received minor wounds in the chest and arm.

The attempt on his life was thought to have been politically motivated, as many felt that the concert was really a support rally for the Jamaican Prime Minister.

Despite being shot, incredibly, Marley played the gig and regarding his reasons for doing so, he said: “The people who are trying to make this world worse aren’t taking a day off. How can I?”

Ultimately, this act of violence against his life proved to be a key reason why Marley chose to pursue his self-imposed exile in England.

In ReMastered: Who Shot the Sheriff?, true crime fans are going to be treated to a molotov cocktail of gang warfare, political scheming, conspiracy theories, corruption, and the power of music.

ReMastered: Who Shot the Sheriff? airs on 12 October and here’s a taste of what’s in store.
