#TRAILERCHEST: First look at the new documentary on Maradona from the director of Senna

Paul Moore

Maradona Documentary

We guarantee that this will be incredible.

A godlike genius that had a penchant for self-destruction. An icon that carried a country on his back but let them down in disgrace. A footballer that scored one of the most beautiful goals of all time and then, one of the most infamous.

A genius. A villain. An icon.

There’s only one Diego Armando Maradona.

Simply put, very few footballers have been as captivating and enthralling as the wonderful Argentinian and if his gripping life story isn’t enough, you’ll be delighted to know that the new documentary is being directed by Asif Kapadia.

Believe the hype because Kapadia previously made Senna – one of the greatest documentaries in recent memory – and the Academy Award-winning Amy.

In terms of its narrative approach, the documentary about Maradona will be constructed from more than 500 hours of rare footage and it depicts the icon’s time at Napoli in the 1980s.
