Peaky Blinders have added an Oscar winner to its cast

Paul Moore

The first plot details have also been revealed.

Much like that scene when all hell broke lose at Epsom, the floodgates about the new season of Peaky Blinders have well and truly opened and we couldn’t be happier.

After news that Tom Hardy’s Alfie Solomons has been spotted on the set in Liverpool and Cillian Murphy’s promise that the new season will see the show ‘return to its roots’, we finally know what that will involve.

Deadline have reported that :”Season 4 will kick off when Tommy receives a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve and realizes the Peaky Blinders are in danger of annihilation. As the enemy closes in, he flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham where a desperate fight for survival begins.”

With the scope and drama being increased tenfold, it’s only natural that Steven Knight has been looking to add some new characters and cast members to his gangster epic.

We’re delighted to see that Adrien Brody will be mixing with the the Shelby clan and according to the Peaky Blinders creator “he genuinely was the actor in my head when I wrote the part. I’m sure he will be a formidable presence in the world of the Peaky Blinders.”

Details about Brody’s role are being kept under wraps for now but he’s an actor that will only add to the dynamic of the superb BBC drama.

Not only has Brody excelled in dramatic roles like The Pianist (he won an Oscar for that) and The Village, but he’s also capable of providing a physical presence, his work in Predators and King Kong spring to mind.

We can’t wait for Season 4…
