More shows continue to shutdown across Hollywood.

As the writers strike rumbles on, more and more big productions are coming to a halt. In recent days it was announced that The Penguin and Daredevil: Born Again are both shutting down until the strike comes to an end.

When that day is continues to be a mystery, as protests continue with no real sign of stopping. In fact, Hollywood could come to a complete standstill by the end of the month as the SAG AFTRA actors union is also on the verge of striking.

The Penguin, a spinoff to Matt Reeves’ The Batman, stars Colin Farrell as the eponymous villain and focuses on the events in the immediate aftermath of the 2022 film. Farrell himself was at the picket line of the WGA strike just a few weeks ago.

The show already temporarily halted production when the writers strike first took place in April.

Farrell said at the protests last month: “For 25 years I’ve provided for my family off the backs of the creativity of writers. There are no corporations without the revenue that writers give the possibility to make.

“The business is changing, writers need to be fairly compensated for the beauty of what they do.”

As well as The Penguin, Daredevil: Born Again will also be shutting down. The show is a “semi-continuation” of the Netflix show which ran from 2015 to 2018 on Netflix.

The show is due to release on Disney+ sometime in 2024, with the first season will reportedly consist of a whopping 18 episodes, way more than most MCU series, which usually have between 6 – 10 episodes.

Charlie Cox will reprise his role the superhero, alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin.
