Producers of the hit TV show Downton Abbey were left red faced after what appeared to be a plastic bottle was captured in a promotional photo for the show.
Pictured on a mantelpiece behind a posing Hugh Bonneville and Laura Carmichael, the bottle was instantly spotted by thousands of fans on the internet after the picture was published on the show’s Instagram account.
Plastic bottles were not used in Britain until the 1960s, a whole 35 years after the new series of Downton Abbey takes place.
The picture was removed from show’s Instagram account but not before everyone has seen the calamitous error.
