PIC: The poster for Tom Hardy’s new movie Legend has an ingenious way of making a bad review look good

Very bold

Carl Kinsella

Innovation at its finest.

Movie posters have always had their way of making underwhelming reviews look special but usually, it’s something as ham-fisted as removing the ‘-ly boring’ from ‘breathtakingly boring’.

The marketing team behind Tom Hardy’s new film Legend, however, cooked up something special in order trick the general public into thinking The Guardian loved their film.

Don’t pretend like you’d have seen that unless it was pointed out. Tom Hardy’s Kray twins are positioned in the foreground of the photo so it looks like the star graphics are simply hidden behind them when in actual fact, Guardian reviewer Benjamin Lee only gave the film a measly two stars.

You have to admire the boldness of designing a poster that was destined to direct attention to a two-star review for your movie.

That being said, there are enough four and five star reviews there that we’ll still be seeing it.
