Great news for fans of the show.

Ricky Gervais has announced he is working on a second season of After Life after the incredible response to Season one.

The comedian took to Twitter on Wednesday to thank fans for their support of the Netflix show, which was released earlier this month.

“Thanks again for all the love for After Life. I have never had a reaction like this. The reviews have been great but the response from viewers has been f*cking amazing,” he said.

“And that means so much more to me. You are the best fans in the world. Oh, and I’ve started writing series 2. ”

The black comedy is Gervais’ fourth TV show since the enormous success of The Office, which premiered in 2001. After Life explores the emotional journey of a man who is coming to terms with the loss of his wife. It’s dark, funny in places and like all of Gervais’ shows, deeply sentimental.

The rest of the cast includes Kerry Godliman as Tony’s wife Lisa, Tom Basden  as Tony’s brother-in-law Matt, Tony Way as Tony’s best-friend Lenny, David Bradley as Tony’s dad, and Ashley Jensen as a Nurse to Tony’s dad.
