If you liked Carrie and The Omen, check this film out.
Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 26 September) is The Medusa Touch, the unsettling if underseen 1978 supernatural mystery horror thriller.
The film revolves around a French detective in London named Brunel (Lino Ventura) who is assigned to investigate the apparent murder of novelist John Morlar (Richard Burton).
While examining the crime scene, however, Brunel discovers the victim is still alive in spite of his severe head injuries and has him rushed to hospital.
As the detective attempts to then reconstruct Morlar’s life with the help of journals and a psychiatrist (Lee Remick), he learns that the novelist was convinced he possessed powerful telekinetic abilities.
Based on the novel of the same name by Peter Van Greenaway, The Medusa Touch has faded into obscurity a bit in the decades since its release.
This is a real shame as Burton’s intense performance, the movie’s great premise and its dark ending make it worth seeking out for fans of horror thrillers like Carrie, The Fury or The Omen.
The Medusa Touch is airing on TV tonight on the channel Legend Xtra at 9pm. It is also available to rent on Apple TV+.
