Two excellent crime thrillers are among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

Both of these are well worth a look.

On the search for a good movie to watch this Tuesday night?

Well, you’re in luck as 26 big films have just been added to Amazon Prime Video, which you can read about here.

However, if none of these are for you, here are what movies are on telly tonight.

Sicario – Film4 – 9pm

The first of our two picks tonight, this crime thriller stars Emily Blunt as a principled FBI agent enlisted by a shadowy government task force (fronted by Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin) to bring down the leader of a powerful Mexican drug cartel.

Written by Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water) and directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Prisoners), Sicario thoughtfully probes the aftermath of America’s War on Drugs, while also boasting incredible performances, taut set-pieces and a twisty screenplay.

We Own the Night – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

We’re also recommending this crime thriller which takes place in ’80s New York.

It stars Joaquin Phoenix as Bobby, a club owner with connections to mobsters who is estranged from his policeman brother (Mark Wahlberg) and father (Robert Duvall).

However, after a violent incident, Bobby agrees to take part in a dangerous operation with the cops to save his family.

Atmospheric, well-acted and featuring a handful of terrifically tense sequences, We Own the Night deserves to be seen by more people.

Casino Royale – ITV4 – 9pm

Daniel Craig’s excellent first outing as James Bond.

Viral – Horror Channel – 9pm

A 2016 sci-fi horror about two teenage sisters in a small town where a mysterious infection begins to spread.

Knocked Up – Sky Showcase – 10.05pm

Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen star in this acclaimed comedy about a one-night-stand that results in an unintended pregnancy.

I Spit on Your Grave – Horror Channel – 10.45pm

A remake of the controversial ’70s cult horror of the same name.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe – Film4 – 11.20pm

Succession’s Brian Cox stars in this supremely scary horror about a coroner who experiences strange phenomena while examining the body of an unidentified woman.

The Lost Boys – Turner Classic Movies – 11.25pm

“One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach: all the damn vampires.”

Evil Dead II – Horror Channel – 12.45am

Bruce Campbell’s legendary protagonist Ash Williams returns in this classic horror sequel.
