Video: Donald Trump’s views on the Oscars won’t be well received in Mexico

Another week, another 'interesting' comment.

Another week, another ‘interesting’ comment.

Donald Trump’s conservative political ideology is about as clear and obvious to most people as the fact that Boyhood was robbed of the Best Film award at the Oscars.

Guess what film this writer felt was the stand-out film of last year?

This being said, it seems that both Trump and myself were left disappointed with Birdman’s success although I’d wager that I’m a much bigger fan of Alejandro González Iñárritu sublime reflection on art, integrity and the craft of filmmaking than the gaffe prone Trump is.

Iñárritu’s film won the award best film and director which capped a remarkable double for Mexican cinema especially since Iñárritu’s good friend Alfonso Cuarón won the same directing award last year for the incredible sci-fi Gravity.

Speaking with Fox News, Trump used the opportunity to express some pretty xenophobic views by stating, ““It was a great night for Mexico, as usual. This whole thing is ridiculous. This guy [Iñárritu] kept getting up and up and up. I said, ‘What is he doing? He’s walking away with all the gold.’ Was it that good? I don’t hear that. But it was certainly a big night for them.”

He also had a pop at the set, lack of glamour, the leftist agenda and what he perceived to be the surprise winners on night during this  segment with Fox.

Trump is no stranger when it comes to making some dramatic comments but there’s only one thing that came to our mind after reading these remarks on Mexico’s recent cinematic success.
