Video: Irish actor linked to play the villain in Bond 24

Did you miss me Mr Bond?

Did you miss me Mr Bond?

JOE wouldn’t make a very good Bond villain because as soon as we got our hands on 007 we would instantly shoot him in the face. Cue credits and fade to black. James Bond will not return.

How’s that for leaving the audience shaken and stirred?

That’s probably why Eon Productions haven’t given us a call just yet to appear as 007’s nemesis in Bond 24, but according to The Mirror they have given Sherlock’s nemesis Andrew Scott a bell.

We’re massive fans of his work on Sherlock (Moriarty’s introduction was absolutely sublime) and we think the Dubliner would be terrific alongside Daniel Craig.

An unnamed insider (it’s ironic that MI6 or film sets are full of moles) said, “Andrew was hand-picked for a role in the new Bond movie after film bosses loved his star turn in Sherlock.

“Casting directors thought he was perfect to play a baddie and they wanted to use his existing Sherlock profile – and amp it up to the next level.

“Andrew is hoping the move will see him leap from TV to the big screen, where he can eventually divide his time between London and LA. He knows this is his big break.”

This JOE recalls that The Mirror were fairly accurate when it came to reporting that Craig would succeed Pierce Brosnan as 007, so we will keep our eyes fixed on the official title announcement tomorrow.

Bond 24 will be directed by Sam Mendes and is set to be released in October 2015.

In the meantime though, here’s Scott doing what he does best; being a bad ass bad guy…
