N.W.A. were probably the most influential group in the history of rap music. Criticised for their controversial lyrics about drugs, crime and the police, they were banned from most mainstream radio stations but still went on to sell over 10 million records.
Dr Dre and Ice Cube, two of the original member have overseen the film project together and it has been directed by F. Gary Gray who also directed Friday, Law Abiding Citizen as well as the remake of the Italian Job.
The movie is expected to open in America this August.
