Video: TV presenter in Memphis tries to pronounce Dublin and fails miserably

We know we don’t have the biggest capital city in the world, but surely you’d expect a TV presenter to have a better stab at saying the word Dublin than this.

We know we don’t have the biggest capital city in the world, but surely you’d expect a TV presenter to have a better stab at saying the word Dublin than this.

Paul Connolly of TV3 made an appearance on Good Morning Memphis recently to talk about his upcoming series ‘Travellers In America: A Secret Society’ and a little about traveller culture to host Valerie Calhoun, who, it quickly becomes clear, did very little research before their conversation.

If the dynamic in the studio wasn’t awkward enough – with Connolly present, why couldn’t they just sit facing each other at the same table rather than having to pretend he was in Dublin? – Calhoun then made it worse by pronouncing Dublin wrong not once but twice and had to be corrected by Connolly on both occasions.

Connolly himself looked a bit exasperated by the end and you couldn’t blame him either but in fairness to Valerie, it’s not as if she’s paid to do this type of thing… oh, wait.
