Either there was a problem with the camera, or she was just doing the old ‘elevator’ trick for the laugh.

There are whole programmes and series dedicated to humorous examples of news reporters and anchors getting it wrong over the years (ain’t that right Aengus?), but there’s not a whole lot you can do when the technical equipment isn’t playing ball, as was the case on BBC News earlier today. Either that, the reporter in question was standing on quicksand, or, as mentioned above, she started doing the ‘elevator’ to amuse herself and the viewers at home. If so, fair play. Whatever it was (and we're 99.9 per cent sure it was the camera's fault) it's still the most entertaining piece of news footage we’ve seen in a long time, and by a long way too.
