Our TV movie pick for tonight (Saturday, 10 January) is X, the extremely cool 2022 slasher horror thriller from writer-director Ti West (The House of the Devil, Pearl).
The film revolves around a group of young people (including Brittany Snow, Jenna Ortega and Mia Goth) in 1979 who gather to shoot an adult film on an elderly couple's rural Texas property.
The cast and crew, however, eventually find themselves a target of the hosts.
Essentially, a blend of two cult classics - Boogie Nights and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - X was a hit with both audiences and critics upon release.
In particular, its dark comedy, its stylish evocation of the '70s, as well as Goth's incredible dual performance, were singled out for praise.
Launching a franchise, which also includes the prequel Pearl and the sequel MaXXXine, X is airing on TV tonight/tomorrow morning on Film4 at 1.10am.
The channel will also screen Pearl tonight at 11.05pm.
X is also available to rent on Apple TV and Rakuten TV.
