The Late Late Toy Show is the Mecca for all Irish kids and one 11 year-old in Cavan has taken matters into his own hands to appear on the show next month.

Fergal Smith, an 11 year from Cavan is eager to make an appearance on the show and emailed Tubs to say that he feels he deserves to be there as he suffers from ‘middle-child syndrome’.

The hilarious letter even gives examples of Fergal’s plight, sandwiched in age between his brothers Ciaran and Pearse Og and he even cheekily suggests he wouldn’t turn down the offer of cash if RTE felt compelled to pay him for his services as a co-host.

Hat-tip: Twitter/2FM

Tubridy did say that “anyone who writes an email like this needs to be met and congratulated”, before ultimately rejecting Fergal’s application saying all the children taking part in this year’s Toy Show have already been chosen.

Fergal’s mother Mairead appeared on the 2fm show shortly after her sons letter was read out, branding Fergal a “monkey” and said he wrote the entire email himself without her knowledge.

Brilliant stuff from Fergal, even insisting on a speedy reply.
