Have you tried listening to it yet?

Do you remember the first time you watched a movie in 3D?

You went to the cinema, got your little red and blue glasses, and it absolutely blew your mind.

Well, imagine that feeling, but with music.

Something called “8D Audio” is all the rage these days, and it really does change the way that music sounds.

Using headphones, you only have two real sound sources, but the use of “8D Audio” makes it possible for it to seem like the origin of the sound is above you, or beside you.

It’s amazing.

A number of people seem to think that the feeling is similar to being at a concert, with the music swirling around your head as the noises project.

A WhatsApp message is currently doing the rounds, so if you listen here first you can smugly claim knew all about it before it was popular…

Have a listen for yourself, but make sure you do so with the assistance of headphones:

What do you think? Life-changing, or unnecessary hype?

There is an actual level of science behind the different sounds you’re hearing, and although it seems pretty clear that there is no eighth dimension, as the name would have you believe, we can’t deny that it all sounds fairly damn cool to us.
