They did well to get on the flight they were having so much fun.
Earlier this week, you may well have seen footage of an impromptu trad session that broke out in Newcastle Airport on Sunday night, when a flight to Ireland was delayed.
Dee Cahill was there to see a musical group called Daoirí Farrell – who were also supposed to be on board the flight – cheer up the mood of frustrated passengers by belting out the likes of ‘I’ll Tell Me Ma’ and ‘Wild Rover’ and lifting spirits in the process.
Safe to say it went down a treat not only with those present, but with those who watched it as, at the time of writing, it’s been shared nearly 7,000 times.
JOE reader Mark Bownes was also there on Sunday night and he captured the band deliver a rousing rendition of ‘Galway Girl’, with those in the vicinity requiring little encouragement to get involved.
“Best flight delay ever,” Mark said of an unexpected turn of events on Sunday evening.
By the looks and sounds of things, it’s hard to disagree.
Cheers to Mark Bownes for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
