U2 paid tribute to Paris victims at Belfast show last night

Tony Cuddihy

U2 paid tribute to the victims of the Paris terror attacks at their show in Belfast on Wednesday night.

During ‘City of Blinding Lights,’ the band displayed the symbol of the Eiffel Tower that has been so prevalent on social media this week, along with the words ‘Stronger Than Fear.’

Bassist Adam Clayton wore a Stiff Little Fingers t-shirt at the show, a tribute to the Belfast punk band who refused to cancel their show in the French capital last weekend.

Bono asked the sold out SSE Arena whether they wanted “a Europe with its heart open or its borders closed to mercy?”

At least 129 people died in last Friday night’s attacks on the Bataclan concert venue, the Stade de France and a number of Parisian restaurants.
