Mark Ronson could be using this new bodhrán when he comes to DJ in Ireland this August
"You will hear this one day on a record and you’ll be like, ‘I gave him that.’"
On this week's episode of The JOE Show, we saw our funniest line-up yet, with interviews from English comic Russell Kane and our own Alison Spittle.
We also had an international superstar messing with a bodhrán for a new JOE anthem...
On his travels in Ibiza, JOE's Kymann Power made it his mission to get the five-times Grammy Award winner Mark Ronson to remix, 'The Fields of Athenry'.
This is how it all went down...
Kymann: “Would you ever consider putting a Mark Ronson twist on an Irish song?”
Mark: “Do you have a specific song?”
Kymann: “Yeah, “The Fields of Athenry.” Do you know, “The Fields of Athenry?”
Mark: “I think so.”
Kymann: “It’s a great song. I brought you some Irish instruments though if you were to go with it.”
Mark: “Oh really?!”
Kymann: “There’s a small bodhrán in there, so you might use it maybe on the track if you do consider it.”
Mark: “I will actually probably use it”
Kymann: “Look if you need help with it as well, I’d be more than happy to help.”
Mark: *Hits bodhrán*
Kymann: “Yeah! There you go!”
Mark: "This will get used. You will hear this one day on a record and you’ll be like, ‘I gave him that.’ It actually has a really good tone. Thank you very much. It was very thoughtful."
Keep an ear out for Mark Ronson’s future releases. You never know, you might hear Kymann’s bodhrán on a future number one.
For all we know, Ronson could be blasting out his version of 'The Fields of Athenry', in August at this year’s Beatyard Festival in Dun Laoghaire.
