Met Éireann has issued a nationwide Orange Weather warning as winds of up to 130km/h are expected to hit coastal counties later tonight.

It was a nice bright and sunny morning in Dublin City earlier today, but it looks like that was just the calm before the storm as more bad weather has been predicted to hit the country over the coming days.

According to Met Éireann, the weather will be “extremely windy or stormy this evening and tonight with Southwest winds gusting 90 to 130 km/hr, the strongest winds in the West and Northwest.

“Rain will turn more showery but some prolonged or thundery showers are likely in the West with coastal areas at risk of flooding due to high tides and high seas. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees.”

Looking at the detailed five-day weather report on the Met Éireann website, we can see that the strongest winds are expected to hit the West coast of Ireland later tonight.

It’s certainly going to be a miserable evening, so make sure to wrap up warm and watch out for any flying debris if you’re heading out later on.
