Here’s what weather you can expect this weekend and on December 25.
13 counties have been hit with Status Yellow wind warnings, which will take effect this weekend.
Met Éireann has issued two alerts of this type, with one affecting Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, while the other impacts Clare, Kerry and Limerick.

The former is set to be valid from 3am on Saturday (21 December) until 2pm on Sunday.
The other is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday until the same time the next day.
Both warnings read: “Sustained strong and gusty westerly winds veering northwesterly coupled with large coastal waves.
“Winds peaking on Saturday night into Sunday morning.
“Potential impacts: Some fallen trees, wave overtopping and/or spray, difficult travelling conditions especially near the coast.”

The UK Met Office has also issued a Yellow wind warning for Antrim, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone which is set to be valid from 7am until midnight on Saturday.
As for the weather on Christmas Day, Met Éireann’s early forecast reads:
“CHRISTMAS EVE, CHRISTMAS DAY and ST STEPHEN’S DAY will all be mild and mostly cloudy with a fair amount of dry weather and with some light rain or drizzle at times, most likely in western and northern counties.
“The best of the drier periods will be in the east and southeast. Day time temperatures will reach about 11 or 12 degrees and the nights will be frost-free.”
