Gardaí Recover Handgun And Arrest Man In Dublin Gun Seizure

Gardaí have recovered a handgun and ammunition and arrested a man following an intelligence-led Dublin gun seizure in the Crumlin area of the capital.

The search operation was carried out on Friday, according to a Garda statement. The Serious Crime Units based at Coolock and Swords Garda Stations were involved, supported by tactical officers from the Armed Support Unit (ASU). Gardaí said it forms part of an ongoing operation targeting the activities of organised crime groups.

What was found in the Dublin gun seizure

“During the course of the search, a firearm and five rounds of ammunition were seized. A male (aged in his 30s) was arrested and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region,” a Garda statement said.

The firearm is now subject to technical analysis, with the Irish Mirror reporting the search was conducted under warrant at a domestic residence in Crumlin, Dublin 12. According to The Journal, the gun was discovered inside the home wrapped in a towel alongside a magazine of ammunition.

Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act allows Gardaí to detain a suspect for an extended period during the investigation of serious offences. “Investigations are ongoing,” a Garda spokesperson added. Follow the latest Irish news for further updates as the case develops.
