Here’s how long we’ve got in the sun before the rain comes back

Every so often Ireland sees a short spell of good weather, but we know that it’s never to last.

Saturday has been a lovely day across the country, and Sunday will be much the same, with Met Éireann describing: “A cool start with mist and fog clearing to give a dry day with good sunshine. Pleasantly warm in many places by afternoon, with highs of 14 to 17 degrees Celsius.”

The story is the same on Monday: “The dry settled weather continues into the start of next week with many places continuing to have good sunshine through the day.”

“Southeasterly winds will freshen slightly and that will keep it cooler along eastern and southern coasts with highs of 11 to 13 degrees. But temperatures over the western half of the country will rise up to around 15 or 16 degrees in the bright sunshine.”

So that’s the good news. Sadly, by Tuesday we’ll have reverted to type, and while it won’t be freezing, the rain will be making a comeback.

Met Éireann describes “a rather cloudy day with scattered outbreaks of rain, but good dry periods too. Moderate southerly breezes and highs of 12 to 14 degrees.” Could be worse.
