UK Prime Minister Theresa May has confirmed that one Irish person was injured in the terror attack that took place in London on Wednesday.

Four people are confirmed to have died in the attack that took place in Westminster on Wednesday afternoon, while a further 29 were injured.

Aysha Frade, a 43-year-old mother originally from Spain, was the first civilian fatality to be identified; she was on her way to collect her two children from school when the attack took place.

The others to lose their lives in the attack were the attacker himself, who is known to MI5, PC Keith Palmer, who was stabbed by the attacker, and a man in his mid-50s, who, like Aysha Frade, was knocked down when the attacker drove his car at high speed over Westminster Bridge.

In a speech at the House of Commons on Thursday, UK Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed that an Irish citizen was amongst those injured in Wednesday’s attack, along with 12 people from the United Kingdom, four people from South Korea, three from France, two from Romania, two from Greece and one person from Germany, China and Italy.

May said that the attack was “an attack on free people everywhere” and that the threat level remained “severe” following yesterday’s events.
