“Lawnmowers will be roaring”.
After enduring a truly miserable few months of weather, there may finally be some good news on the horizon.
We’ve already experienced a slight rise in temperatures over the last few days and even a few sunny spells here and there, and we’re expecting more to come.
Irish weather expert Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather on Twitter/X has propped up our hopes of fine weather, saying that the weekend is looking “really promising”.
Posting a weather chart showing high pressure over Ireland, O’Reilly told his followers: “Next weekend is looking really promising and could be the lift so many people and businesses need.
“Lawnmowers will be roaring and garden centre car parks will be jammed.”
We don’t know about you, but that sounds absolutely ideal, given the recent unforgiving weather.

Long-awaited dry spell on the way for Ireland by end of the week
As no good weather news comes unaccompanied these days, there is a slight catch to the upcoming weekend’s high pressure forecast, as it looks like there’ll still be some unsettled weather to endure in the meantime.
According to Met Éireann’s weekly forecast, it will gradually turn drier as the week progresses, though there will be light showers or patches of rain at times. After a cool start, it will turn milder later in the week.

Monday, April 15
Cool and windy today with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Some showers will be heavy with the chance of hail and an isolated thunderstorm in the north and northwest this morning. Showers will become more confined to the northern half of the country this evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees but feeling colder in fresh to strong and gusty northwest winds.
Tonight, many areas will be dry with clear spells, though well scattered showers will continue to spread from the northwest. Northwesterly winds will ease moderate early in the night with a few mist patches developing. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.

Tuesday, April 16.
Tomorrow will be breezy with long dry spells as scattered showers track southeastwards across the country through the day. A bright day with widespread sunny spells. Showers will largely die out in the evening. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh northwest winds.
A dry night for many with clear spells, though there will be isolated showers. Quite cold with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees in moderate northwest winds.
Wednesday, April 17
Becoming cloudier on Wednesday. Most places will be dry to start apart from isolated showers. However, patchy light rain and drizzle will spread from the northwest through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in light to moderate northwest winds.
Cloudy with lingering patches of light rain and drizzle overnight easing and a good deal of dry weather developing. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in light northerly or variable winds.
Thursday, April 18
Another rather cloudy but mainly dry day with well scattered light showers. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in light northwesterly winds.
Friday, April 19
A cloudy start with scattered showers. Showers will die out as the day progresses with sunny spells developing, especially over the southern half of the country. Turning milder with highest temperatures of 11 degrees in the northwest to 16 degrees in the southeast in light to moderate northwest winds.
