Looks like Ryanair will be flying to the USA pretty soon

USA, USA!

If this means cheaper transatlantic flights, then this has to be good news.

Flying to major American cities with Ryanair will likely be commonplace in the near future after the Ryanair board approved plans to start transatlantic flights as part of its growth strategy for the next five years.

According to the Irish Times, Ryanair are initially looking at flights between approximately a dozen European and US Cities as part of a service that could be up and running within five years if the airline can secure a deal for long-haul aircraft with the likes of Boeing or Airbus.

A statement from Ryanair on plans for a transatlantic service, quoted in the Irish Times, reads: “The board of Ryanair, like any PLC, has approved the business plans for future growth, including transatlantic.

“We are talking to manufacturers about long-haul aircraft but cannot comment further on this. European consumers want lower cost travel to the USA and the same for Americans coming to Europe. We see it as a logical development in the European market.”

The plan for Ryanair to go transatlantic is something that has been mentioned by CEO Michael O’Leary in the past, as has the possibility of cheap fares between European destinations and the USA.

That will come as music to the ears of regular and occasional visitors to the US alike.

The news comes on the same day that Ryanair announced its winter schedule three months earlier than they did last year and shortly after the airline revealed details of a new and improved customer experience as part of its new customer charter.

Exciting times.
