Let it snow.

At present, there’s a snow-ice warning in place for Ireland until Saturday, 2 February, at 12pm.

As has been reported, this week is likely to see plenty of hail showers, sleet and snow over the coming days.

Met Éireann says the mercury is set to drop to as low as -5 on Thursday and Saturday. If you’re living in Munster or south Leinster, expect “some significant accumulations” of snowfall on Thursday too.

As for the days ahead, Wednesday morning is set to be very cold with widespread frost and icy patches. There will also be lying snow in places.

However, sunny spells are forecast for the afternoon and the wintry showers will become more isolated as the day progresses.

As for Wednesday evening, it’s set to be another chilly one with frost, fog, and icy conditions expected. If you’re living in Munster, have the umbrella on hand as heavy rain is set develop over the province before dawn, with sleet or hill snow in places. Lowest temperatures are set to range between -2 and -4 C.

Thursday night is set to be a particularly chilly one, with icy roads and some lying snow expected.

The snow is likely to be heaviest over much of Munster and south Leinster, with some significant accumulations in places. Get the thermals ready because the overnight temperatures are set to drop between -2 and -5 C in some places.

Unfortunately, the icy conditions won’t be thawing on Friday and as for the weekend, the frost and ice are expected to slowly clear on Saturday as conditions improve.

It’s still going to be chilly with overnight lows of -3 to -5 C and widespread frost overnight, while icy roads and some freezing fog can be expected also.

Sunday is set to be cold but sunny, with changeable and unsettled conditions forecast for early next week.
