Omran Daqneesh, the five-year-old boy victim of an airstrike in the city of Aleppo, has been reunited with his parents.
Many are hoping that the shocking image of the bleeding and shellshocked Omran sat in the back of ambulance of the attack will prove a watershed moment in western attitudes to the conflict in Syria.
The Guardian journalist Kareem Shaheen spoke to Newstalk on Friday and said that Daqneesh has already been seen to by medical professionals and is back with his parents.
Shaheen noted "He's OK - he only sustained injuries in his head and a few bruises from the airstrike - and he's fine now and back in his family's home.
"He's five years old, he's as old as the Syrian war - he's probably not known a single day of peace in his life and he deserves that."
