For what exactly, we are not sure.
On the eve of the World Cup in Brazil last year, the FIFA preisdent, Sepp Blatter mused, “we shall wonder if one day our game is played on another planet? Why not? Then we will have not only a World Cup, we will have inter-planetary competitions. Why not?”
We all laughed like hyenas at this piece of lunatic rhetoric, so typical of the man from Switzerland.
Suspend your disbelief for a second though and imagine Blatter’s scenario being true. Planet Earth would be playing against other planets.
“But what would our flag look like” you’re probably wondering.
Wonder no more, because Oskar Pernefeldt from the Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm, Sweden, has attempted to answer this conundrum with his graduation project entitled ‘The International Flag of Planet Earth’.
Would a match against the Moon represent a local derby? You can read all about how he came to arrive at this design by clicking here.
