British or Irish, unionist or nationalist, Leave or Remain — almost nobody wants to see a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic.
However, Theresa May’s Brexit plans have been so unclear that there appears to be very little certainty over the issue.
Protesters have set up on the M1 this rainy Saturday morning in order to give a sense of what it would be like if the UK and Ireland were to return to a hard border, complete with a mock-up customs office and barrier.
Photos from the scene show protesters “taking the details” of those crossing the borders. Newstalk journalist Richard Chambers has described the action as causing “major disruption.”
These photos are from Carrickcarnon, but Chambers has reported that there are two other such protests occurring along the border this morning.
