Student Universal Support Ireland are expecting in excess of 100,000 applications.
Students attending third-level institutions in Ireland in the academic year 2017/18 can now apply for a SUSI grant after the application scheme reopened today, April 3.

The SUSI grant scheme, worth in the region of €6,000 to students over the course of the academic year, has been in existence since 2012, when it became Ireland’s single national awarding authority for all higher and further education grants, having replaced the 66 local awarding authorities who had previously processed student grant applications.
According to the Irish Times, SUSI expects to receive in excess of 105,000 applications, with more than 80,000 students set to benefit from €380 million worth of student supports.
Demand is set to increase for grant applications due to the availability of maintenance grants for postgraduate students in 2017/18, a scheme which was abolished by the government in 2012.

Students are encouraged to make their application as early as possible and can track their submitted application via an online account at any stage.
