The filmmaker was nominated for an Oscar for the groundbreaking documentary.
Morgan Spurlock, the filmmaker who famously documented what it was like to eat McDonald’s every day for a month, has passed away at the age of 53.
The 2004 film Super Size Me followed Spurlock’s drastic change in health and wellbeing after subsisting only on food from the fast food giant for an entire month.
His family confirmed his death earlier today by releasing a statement.

In the statement they said: “It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan. Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas and generosity.
“Today the world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. I am so proud to have worked together with him.”
