The death comes in the wake of several road fatalities in recent weeks in Ireland.
A 16-year-old boy has passed away after falling from a tractor in Galway.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said that the road traffic incident occurred at Sylane in Tuam at around 7.40pm on Wednesday, 30 August.
The teen was subsequently taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he received treatment for serious injuries.
Gardaí have now stated that the 16-year-old passed away during the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, 6 September.
They have also stated that a post-mortem will take place in due course and have launched a witness appeal.

"Gardaí in Galway are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have video footage, to come forward to them," a spokesperson said.
