The University of Glasgow has closed its doors for the day after a suspicious package was found in the mailroom.

The university released a statement through its official Twitter account, saying: “As a precautionary measure, police have advised the evacuated buildings should remain closed for the remainder of the day. As such, classes in these buildings have been cancelled for the rest of the day. The updated list of affected buildings are in the following tweet.”

The list included the Boyd Orr Building, OTC (Officer Training Corps), Wolfson Medical Building, Bower Building, Isabella Elder Building, James McCune Smith Learning Hub site, Joseph Black Building, Kelvin Building, and the University Gardens. The Maths and Stats building were also closed.

This news follows an incident on Tuesday where suspicious packages were sent to three locations around London, including Waterloo tube station and Heathrow Airport.

It appears that the packages from yesterday’s incident were sent from Dublin, and Gardaí are assisting the Met Office in their investigation.
