‘Tis a bit wild out in the west today folks.

With all this talk of weather bombs and weather warnings of late, you’re probably sick to the teeth of hearing about the terrible conditions around the country at the moment.

It’s one thing talking about it, however, and another seeing the effect that the weather has been having up close and it’s certainly been having an impact in the west of Ireland today.

JOE reader Colm Clarke sent us in this footage of Roonagh Pier in Louisburgh in Mayo, the departure point for ferries to Clare Island and Inisturk…

Another JOE reader, Paul Finlay sent us in footage of Mullaghmore, a famous surfing spot in Sligo, where the waves were similarly rough and foam blowing in from the sea made it look like a blizzard had just hit…

The forecast ain’t great for the coming days either so stay safe out there folks.

Hat-tip to Colm Clarke and Paul Finlay for sending these our way
