The weather forecast for this week is in and it ain’t pretty

We were blessed there for a couple of weeks in fairness.

We’re sure that the glorious spell of weather we all enjoyed in the first couple of weeks of May won’t be the last of the fine conditions for the summer of 2017, but it certainly doesn’t look as if they’re going to return for the foreseeable future at least.

According to Met Éireann, the majority of next week will be dull, dreary and wet, with only occasional dry spells to break up the gloomy weather from now until next weekend.

Monday will be cloudy, windy and rather wet, with the heaviest and most persistent rain set to affect southern coastal fringes. If there’s any consolation to be had it’s that it won’t be particularly cold; the forecast is for very mild and humid conditions with temperatures of up to 18 degrees.

Tuesday is likely to be the best day of the next week, with plenty of sunny spells throughout the country and temperatures of around 15-16 degrees.

Rain will spread from the south on Tuesday evening, however, and will fall again in the east coast on Wednesday morning before starting to clear later in the day, when, again, there will be plenty of sunny spells in places.

If the middle of the week is set to provide some respite, then the gloomy conditions will be back with a bang on Thursday, when showers will be widespread throughout the country, with the unsettled conditions, unfortunately, set to last through the weekend.
