Rainfall warning

Thankfully, there is an end in sight.

Met Éireann have issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Dublin, Louth and Wicklow as Ireland continues to wait for spring to break out.

The warning, valid from 7am on Wednesday morning until 7am on Thursday morning, has warned of heavy rain in those counties throughout Wednesday and into Wednesday night, with potential accumulations of 30 to 50mm expected, the worst of which is expected to fall in mountainous areas.

The latest weather warning follows on from the snow-ice warning for Leinster and parts of Munster that was issued late on Tuesday evening, which is valid until 10am on Wednesday morning.

Parts of the country woke up to see the ground covered in snow this morning and while the arrival of the white stuff is still cause for plenty of giddy excitement, it will also come as a relief to many that the end to the current wintry spell is in sight.

Met Éireann say that it will be dry in most parts of the country by Thursday afternoon and while Thursday night will be cold with temperatures dropping to as low as -2 degrees, mild, dry and settled weather, with temperatures reaching the mid-teens, is expected from Friday and is set to last throughout the weekend.
