One moment summed up just how clever of a rugby player CJ Stander is

Never shuts off…

It’s been a good week for Irish rugby, and one listen to The Hard Yards rugby show will show you just how giddy the lads were in studio this week just talking about it.

Ireland defeated England to claim the Grand Slam and along the way won their third Six Nations in five years, not bad achievement at all.

We spoke about a lot of topics on The Hard Yards this week, including Johnny Sexton’s great moment with Joey Carbery and Peter O’Mahony’s lovely gesture to an injured teammate.

But one moment you might not have taken much notice of was a very clever bit of play from CJ Stander which you can hear about from 19:00 below.

In case you don’t have time to listen now, here’s a quick rundown of the the clever play by Stander to receive the pass from Bundee Aki’s break.

Speaking on The Hard Yards, Kevin McLaughlin comments:

“I would say Stander said to Bundee during the week, ‘I’m going to steam up on the inside on this play. If you make a break, I’ll be on your inside’.

“I’d say he said it alright. Jamie Heaslip used to be very good at doing that, off those lineout plays. He’d run straight from the lineout and he’d be on the inside, and he got a load of tries from it. He would have said it during the week [to Aki] – ‘I’ll be on your left shoulder’.”
