WATCH: Comedy sketch sums up the struggle faced by former inter-county GAA players

Conor Heneghan

Playing for your county can be a curse as well as a blessing, it seems.

For GAA players, there is no greater honour that representing your county at the highest level.

It is an honour bestowed on only those talented enough to compete against players of a similar level in rival counties and earns a player respect and admiration throughout their home county and beyond.

Of course, that recognition isn’t always necessarily a good thing, as is illustrated in an amusing sketch by the Fupin Eejits, who we’ve featured regularly on JOE in the past.

There are some ardent fans who can’t get enough of county players past and present and as most GAA people are too polite to turn down an invitation for a chat, there are times when the inter-county status causes its own problems…
