Snapchat’s new feature is set to make sporting events and concerts pretty special

The Story is about to get bigger...

The Story is about to get bigger…

Snapchat is easily one of the most used apps in JOE Towers, the hilarity that flies around the phones in this office is just ridiculously good sending each other snaps of our ham and cheese sandwiches sending each other snaps of all the cool things we do on a daily basis…

The thing we’ve noticed about Snapchat in recent times is that people have stopped sending snaps directly to their friends and instead they put everything on their Snapchat Story. The Story allows you to put together a stream of pictures or videos and they play out in chronological order, it’s very clever.

However, there’s a new Snapchat Story option for all you lovers of the app. It’s called Our Story and it’s based around getting people at a big sports event or concerts to create a massive public Snapchat Story with pictures and videos.

The Story doesn’t show the names of who took each image or video, with just the content itself appearing. To add an image to the Story, users need to turn on their location services, to confirm that they are actually at the event.

So for example, everyone heading to the All-Ireland Hurling Final at Croke Park on Sunday can create this enormous public story getting people’s different perspectives of matchday.

The function was trialled at the World Cup and EDC Live, and has now been launched as an official part of Snapchat. Fun times ahead.

Hat-tip to The Drum.
