A fella called Klemens Torggler designs the sort of door you simply wouldn’t be able to handle if you had a pint or two on board.
We never really thought about doors before. The handy device allowing you to step from one room to another had always just ‘been’ and even though we walk through probably hundreds of normal hinged and sliding versions every week, we never thought they could do with a tweak to make them cooler.
That’s why Vienna-based artist Klemens Torggler is considerably smarter than us. He has tinkering with door designs for almost two decades and the folks at Fastcodedesign put together some of his best work in a piece this morning and the videos were so mind blowing we had to bring them to you.

His doors fold in on themselves using clever engineering, removing the need for sliding rails or hinges and while they are officially prototypes, some are available to buy as artworks.
To be honest, we’re not sure we would want one on the bathroom at home, but they are definitely the coolest thing we’ve seen this week
