NASA scientist develops hydroponic system for Mars, sells it to DIY marijuana growers

Talk about going higher than any astronaut has ever gone before...

Talk about going higher than any astronaut has ever gone before…

Dale Chamberlain spent years working on advanced life support systems and hydroponics in the hope that one day his creations would be used to help support human life on Mars. However, with the massive budget cuts in the US, the NASA mission to Mars has been shelved with no indication as to when it might resurface.

So what is one to do when you’ve put year’s worth of highly scientific work into a hydroponics system that may never see the light of day? You sell it to DIY stoners of course.

Well, that’s what Dale is doing in Colorado where it’s now legal to grow and possess small quantities of pot.

According to TechEye.net, “Colorado state law mandates that marijuana growers need to have an enclosed, lockable space and Chamberlain’s Colorado Grow Box offers just that. It is a lockable, self-contained system that requires very little maintenance.”

“The bottom line is people don’t have time, they don’t have time because of a job and other things to deal with,” Chamberlain recently told The Rocky Mountain Collegian.

“With my background with plant chambered automation systems, it is a natural conclusion to build a chamber that would be like a refrigerator, where all you need to do is go and open the door and get your bud.”

Looks like every CO2 gas cloud has it’s sliver lining…
