The NHL season gets underway next week, but the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs were taking their pre-season encounter very seriously indeed.
The 10 man brawl that ensued has had some serious consequences for some of the players involved, with Phil Kessel received a match penalty for slashing which can be seen at the start of the fight while new Leafs signing David Clarkson gets an automatic 10-match ban for leaving the bench to join the fight.
After the brawl settles down somewhat, the two goalkeepers Ryan Miller and Jonathan Bernier continue their battle, with the overall result a total of 211 penalty minutes, including three game misconducts.
Here is how the action went down in Toronto.
The players involved will presumably argue they are chomping at the bit for the start of the new campaign.
