Farrell: I would work with Lenny Abrahamson ‘in a second’

The Room director is up for a Best Director Oscar at this Sunday’s Academy Awards.

Colin Farrell has said that he would work with Lenny Abrahamson ‘in a second’ and praised Room as ‘cinematic art’ ahead of Sunday’s Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

Speaking at an IDA and Irish Film Board pre-Oscars event on LA, the Dublin actor told Goss.ie: “I thought Room was extraordinary, it’s such a unique piece of cinematic art. Lenny’s been just building himself up as a director from Adam & Paul to Garage, and then What Richard Did and then Frank and now Room.

“It’s kind of like he’s been very methodical and very conscious in how he’s taken on bigger and bigger canvasses. He’s just extraordinary.”

Farrell also said that ‘it’s mad’ to see the level of Irish nominations this year, with Saoirse Ronan and Michael Fassbender also nominated in the acting categories for Brooklyn and Steve Jobs respectively.

“It’s amazing to see all these home-grown talents get this international recognition on the Oscars world stage. It’s mad,” added Farrell, unlucky himself to miss out for an excellent performance in the underrated The Lobster.
