Take a second to imagine the most Donald Trump entrance to a room possible.
It probably won’t surprise many of you to learn that the potential next President of the United States appeared to channel the theatre of WWE as he strolled onto stage at a Republican convention.
Yep, Donald Trump was in attendance to introduce wife Melania at his party’s gathering in Cleveland, and he genuinely greeted the crowd under a cloud of smoke. His entrance music? Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’. You’d be forgiven for thinking he’s feeling pretty confident about the upcoming US election. Here’s the clip:
Rings a bell, doesn’t it?
The internet was obviously never going to let this one pass them by, and many took to Twitter to offer their take on “The Donald’s” over-the-top showmanship.

Who had a better entrance?
Donald Trump or Mini Me from Austin Powers? Both have small hand size.#RNCinCLE pic.twitter.com/ooF7G2vuhi

More than a few people also commented on Trump’s decision to persist with using Queen music on his campaign trail. The band’s legendary guitarist Brian May wrote on his personal website not long ago that the New Yorker hadn’t been given permission to use the song. He didn’t make a statement on Queen’s behalf but it was pretty damning all the same.
Frontman Freddie Mercury was reportedly gay and is widely considered to be an LGBT icon. Fans unsurprisingly didn’t reckon he’d have approved of his song being adopted by the Republicans.
Trump comes out to Freddie Mercury, who the GOP platform would send to ex-gay therapy.

Heartbreaking that Trump used Freddie Mercury's beautiful "We are the champions." Just heartbreaking.

It's what Freddie Mercury would have wanted – to be dead rather than see this happen to his music. https://t.co/MKEqG3QidX via @YouTube

So… Donald Trump walks on to Queen's "We Are the Champions." Poor Freddie.
