It’s the staple cash cow of every GAA club.
When you’re blue in the face going to people looking for lotto money, the next best reliable fundraiser for any GAA club is a raffle.
If you really want to catch the imagination of the public you need to come up with some jazzy prizes of course.
Think a J1 job and a month’s accommodation in New York, think a Mediterranean Cruise with a twist, think all your turf footed by the senior team.
Well, Kildorrerry GAA club in North Cork seem to know their audience fairly well and their doubling, nay trebling down on livestock prizes.
What you might do with a pedigree Limousin heifer or a Vendéen sheep if you don’t have farming land is a problem for another day.
And yes, the club will offer you cash in lieu of the prizes but where’s the fun in that?
Kildorrerry clubman, James McEniry who describes his team as “a solid country club” says he was “handed the tickets in training” and told to go sell.
If you need any more convincing on buying the golden tickets, here’s what’s on offer.
