It is being described as ‘the find of a lifetime’.
Archaeologists have discovered a megalithic passage that appears to be 5,500 years old.
The passage tomb cemetery is located within the Brú na Bóinne World Heritage Site.
The discovery was made by the agri-technology company Devenish, as well as the UCD School of Archaeology found the cemetery beside Dowth Hall in Meath.
Archaeologist Dr Cliodhna Ni Lionain spoke about just how impressive this discovery is, saying: “It’s an exciting opportunity to get to know more about some of the earliest farmers here at the Boyne Valley who are responsible for creating these amazing monuments”.

According to RTÉ, the six kerbstones which have been identified so far would have formed part of a ring of stones that followed the cairn perimeter.
One kerbstone is heavily decorated with carvings.
The discovery is being treated as one of the most significant discoveries of historical art in Ireland in recent times.
